Ansel Adams is one of the most renowned and influential of contemporary American photographers, and is best known for his photographs of the western United States, particularly Yosemite National Park. He invented a grid system in imaging called the "rule of thirds" that is still widely accepted and practiced today, and is accredited with the intense clarity of his work.
