Historical Context:
"There are no lies in a watercolor painting. It is straight to the point, and this is what I love about it. Being honest and genuine are very important qualities. Every mark on the paper is exposed. Watercolor is raw, immediate, and intense. It requires minimal process, but absolute focus. The media controls the artist. The loss of control is exhilarating if you understand the media's limits. The watercolorist must respect the honesty of the paint. And when the paint is on the paper, it is final - no polishing. This allows the work to be fresh." -Amy Hofacker
