Edward Steichen was an American photographer, painter and art gallery and museum curator born in Bivange, Luxembourg. His family moved to the United States in 1881 where he became a naturalized citizen in 1900. This poster is of the famous bridge in New York, of which the Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier said: "The George Washington Bridge over the Hudson is the most beautiful bridge in the world. Made of cables and steel beams, it gleams in the sky like a reversed arch. It is blessed. It is the only seat of grace in the disordered city." (Source: "When the Cathedrals Were White")
