Historical Context:
Bill Hosterman is an Associate Professor in Foundations, Drawing and Printmaking at GVSU. In his personal work, Hosterman works mostly with printmaking, creating imagery that investigates the relationship between the way nature is defined by the human journey, and the manner in which humans are defined by nature. In this particular work, his ideas are more abstract than representational. Hosterman experimented with the technique of collage, constructing and deconstructing each image, keeping only what felt essential to representing his ideas of human context within nature.
