Historical Context:
Dali was renowned for his exuberant personality as much as for his indisputable technical aptitude. Dali was among the most versatile and prolific artists of the twentieth century. Although known for his many paintings, through his long career he turned to sculpture, printmaking, fashion, advertising, writing, and, perhaps most famously, filmmaking. Although these tiles were designed by Dali in 1953, they were not produced until 1964, when they were marketed by the Spanish company Mikana.
