Michael Tracy is known for his focus on the complexities of religion, politics, and modern life through harsh techniques like stabbing, cutting, and tearing his artworks. Tracy is passionate about Italian religious art through the centuries, ranging from the mid-1200s to the 17th century. Many of Tracy's artworks depict images of the Italian master Caravaggio (1581-1610). Caravaggio's work "Death of the Virgin" is the primary focus of this piece.
