Historical Context:
Deborah Ebbers was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The daughter of two artists, Ebbers was raised in a studio and explored painting and drawing before she could talk. An avid naturalist, Ebbers grew up with a reverent wonder for the natural world around her, learning how to capture the ever-changing landscape even at a young age. Her canvases reflect a high standard of expertise, exploration and invention in a style that is ever changing. It is not uncommon for Ebbers to use multiple layers of glaze over parts of her canvas to achieve the perfect balance of color and light.
