Historical Context:
Chen Jun was born into a family of professional artists in Deyang, Sichuan. His uncle taught him all of his cousins to create Chinese paintings in traditional styles when Jun was nine years old. His dedication to classical Chinese painting traditions was already apparent in his childhood. He has been a professional artist for the past sixty years, retiring in 1991 as the only surviving artist of his generation in his family.
