Historical Context:
The Warli painting tradition dates back to over 5,000 years ago. Since then people from the Warli tribe have been decorating their earthen walls with white line drawings. Using only the white color and basic geometric forms, the Warlies create imagery of natural rhythm and motion of daily routine. The whole world: men, women, birds, animals, trees is seen joined together harmoniously celebrating everyday life.
