Modern Myth: Mr. Work and Mrs. House
Two statues. One looks like a nude man with a factory for a head. He carries a briefcase. The other looks female and with a house for a head.
Working within ceramics, mosaics, painting and some printmaking, Mary Ellen McNaughton’s artwork is heavily influenced by both nature and spirit. Her work often has a mythological or fantasy theme that is drawn from her subconscious. This sculpture encourages the viewer to re-think the gender divide and inequality between men as providers and women has homemakers.
