Historical Context:
"My current collection of paintings deals with themes of sleep and unconsciousness. For the past year I have been making paintings of people sleeping in large soft beds. In the most recent work, parts of the figures of blankets are fully rendered in painted detail, while the rest of the painting is a plain blue field with simple line drawing depicting the interior space. This combination began as an accident that I found visually and conceptually compelling, so I decided to explore it further." - Colleen O'Donnell
