Minnesota-born Stephen Sorman is internationally known as both a painter and printmaker, and best known for the use of mixed media in his artwork. Combining different painting, drawing, and printmaking techniques, he creates complicated, abstract imagery. Using multiple layers of different media types, textures, shapes, and colors, his artwork evokes spirit and flow. Sorman's artwork can be found in many museum collections around the world. From 2007 to 2011, Sorman was the GVSU Stuart B. Padnos Chair allowing him to teach and work directly with GVSU students and faculty.
