Historical Context:
Rufiano Tamayo was a Mexican painter who combined many native Mexican folk themes with popular artistic movements of the time, including but not limited to Cubism, Impressionism, and Fauvism. He is noted especially for rejecting the revolutionary political messages that much of the art at the time was emulating.
