Historical Context:
A “face jug” is a pottery vessel that depicts a face. There are examples of such pottery dating back as far as Ancient Greece and Pre-Columbian America. Given their almost universal existence from cultures around the world, they reflect humankind’s desire to create images of self. This is a modern rendition of a face jug created by Kentucky artist Bob Brigl.
