Historical Context:
David Lubbers received his undergraduate degree from Calvin College, Grand Rapids in 1969, and his master's degree from Michigan State University, Lansing four years later. His work is heavily influenced by his strong interest in geology, specifically natural erosion patterns found in the rock formations, and the man-made ruins of Santa Fe, New Mexico. In this series, "Old Mexico", his goal was not only to document the evidence of time and weather, but also the soul of past peoples.
