Mark Schaub is an Associate Professor in the Writing Department at Grand Valley State University and is the Executive Director of the Study Abroad department, the Padnos International Center. He received his Bachelor of Art from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, his Master of Fine Art from Wichita State University in Kansas, and his Ph.D. from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. The "I Am Grand Valley" portrait project was created by students, administrators, faculty, staff, and alumni who volunteered to paint their self portraits. Many had no prior experience and all left their inhibitions at the door to take part of this project and celebrate the diversity within Grand Valley State University.
