Artworks - Height: 18 in Width: 13.625 in
An image of a peacock on a branch against a gold background. It is facing away with its tail down. The border has various flowers that are different colors.
Historical Context:
The peacock has been a favorite bird in Indian designs since the age of rock shelters and cave paintings. The dancing peacocks rejoice at the prospect of rains, and arouse the feeling of intense love in the heart of both, lover and beloved. Mughal Emperors raised peacocks to grace royal gardens because their presence made a symbol of the heavenly garden, the paradise.
