Historical Context:
Salifu Mohammed, who goes by the pseudonym Alaagy, grew up in the small village of Wa in the upper west region of northern Ghana, called Busa. He studied the arts at the Ghanatta College of Art in the regional capital of Accra, and after receiving his certificate in art and design enrolled at the Ankle College of Art, majoring in drawing and painting. Since relocating to the Bay Area, he has displayed at the Spirit in Stone Gallery in Sonoma County, CA, Bomani Gallery in San Francisco, CA, as well as Pro Art in Oakland, CA and Town Hall in Seattle, WA.
