Historical Context:
"Most of us have gone to the fair and at one point ventured into the animal barns. We pet the animals, feed them, and attempt to imagine farm life. However, is that experience really "farm"? Do we actually learn about how these animals live? A disconnect has been created between us and them; between the idea of something real and the experience of something real. At the fair, the animals are an attraction for us and we may also be an attraction for them. But for all the watching that occurs, we only end up looking at each other." -J.S. Edenburn
