E. Lynne O'Rourke developed her interest in collage while teaching children's art in public schools of Grand Rapids and studying life drawing at WEstern Michigan University. Her work is often referred to as "paintings with paper" because the tiny pieces of paper resemble a dab of paint. O'Rourke draws the viewers in as close as possible to see all the details of her images, from hidden items and words, or tiny images that are significant to the composition. In 2002 O'Rourke was commissioned to create this poster for the Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts celebration.
