Historical Context:
Patricia Clark is currently a Poet-in-Residence and Professor in the English Department at Grand Valley State University. After studying economics, English and creative writing, she received her Ph.D. in English from the University of Houston, Texas. On her poetry, she states: "I would like a reader to take away a complex understanding of how woven emotion is with thinking and with seeing; I would like readers to delve deeply into the poems here, pondering complexity, ambiguity, and nuance and seeing the world in its multiplicities... How many views are there of a single person? To understand someone completely, or to near that state of understanding (how far do any of us ever get?), snapshots of many days, many moods would be necessary. I would like readers to relish language and feel precision, depth, and affection."
