Historically, Pueblo Ancestors crossed the mountains to the north to hunt or trade for buffalo meat for the long winter months. The Buffalo is a symbol of abundance. Held in the winter, the Buffalo Dance is a celebration of both abundance and community survival. The Dancer takes on the spirit of the Buffalo, giving thanks to the spirit and the life of the animal.
