Drawing of eel-like creature on handmade paper.
The discovery of a paper making guild, founded by Eve Reid in Kalamazoo, MI, gave Alice Breece a supportive artistic community in which to flourish. In her early 40's she began actively pursuing her artistic career by creating handmade paper. She developed her own unique technique making sculptural 3-D forms and later studied 2-D pigmented pulp painting. Following an inspirational journey to Greece, aspects of her personal identity, motherhood, and relationships were explored using realistic and abstract body forms.
