Zhou Sheng Hua was a leading artist in what is known as the "Great Northern Wilderness" school of printmaking. In 1974, he began to work as a print maker when he was selected to create propaganda art at the Hao Liang He chemical fertilizer factory. He studied printmaking at the Central Fine Art Academy in Beijing and also studied oil painting at Harbin Normal University. In 1987, he became a founding member of the Chinese Fine Art Artists' Association.
