Tate Modern was created in the year 2000 to display the National Collection of International Modern Art of Britain (defined as art since 1900). This collection forms the part of the Tate Collection that contains the National Collection of British Art (post 1500), as well as international modern art. This collection was formerly displayed at the Tate Gallery, renamed Tate Britain (or Tate Modern).
