Historical Context:
Prior to the development of modern nursing Nuns and military officials offered the only medical assistance. In the Crimean War an English women named Florence Nightingale laid out the foundations for modern nursing. She wrote a book detailing the basic principles she had learned in the war it was entitled Notes on Nursing. Over a 150 years later nursing is still one of the most in demand career fields.
