Historical Context:
Diane Deremo is a native Michigan artist who draws her landscape inspiration from her love of the Midwestern countryside. She tries to draw and paint outdoors as much as possible in order to capture the true characters, moods, lights and colors of her subjects. The real beauty of a painting, she believes, is in the initial sketches and brushwork. For Deremo, painting is an emotional response to nature and the rapidly diminishing rural character of the Midwest.
