Historical Context:
Marius Van Beek began as a sculptor working with bronze, clay, and even stone. He would use classical thoughts and ideas for his pieces. Beek was not only focused on using the past for his pieces, he had eventually made abstract pieces and started to use other materials for his sculptures such as wood and iron. He became a professor in his later years at Academy of Art and Design.
