Historical Context:
Don Kerr is an American painter and has been a professor at Grand Valley State University since 1970. He has traveled the world and has painted multiple scenes while abroad. His art has been seen across the United States and around the world. Kerr's work involves human perception, identifying what quality/figure/light should be identified as significant. He is a strong believer that art makes it possible for us to be aware of and cultivate a part of ourselves (and nature) that we have historically called 'soul'- a part of each of us that, according to Kerr, is radically jeopardized by the way we live today.
