Nude brunette with Amaryllis flower seated upon white bed.
Historical Context:
Alten continually painted figures and portraits throughout his career and as early as 1899 taught life-drawing classes in Grand Rapids. This unknown model posed for Alten on at least two other occasions. This was painted in the upstairs southeast bedroom of Alten's home at 1593 E. Fulton St., Grand Rapids.
