Description:
Combination Renaissance-style and surreal landscape featuring cupid wearing rubber boots, holding/protecting lamb from two watchful black crows.
Historical Context:
"We're all familiar with children's nursery rhymes whose sound is innocent enough, but whose themes are quite darkly disturbing, salaciously satirical, or deliciously droll. These paintings and drawings are pun offspring of stories. Loosely connected to known parodies, allegories, and idioms, some are driven from personal events and observances. This is a ploy, obscuring a precise reliving and performance. Symbolically colorful whims and associations prevent a moralizing monologue and foster revolving mindfulness." -Tim Fisher
