At West Surrey College of Art and at the Bath Academy, Roy Tonkin studied pottery and printmaking while developing his interest in carborundum etchings. He set up a studio in London in the early 1980s. Today, he produces ceramic works and carborundum plates. He finds inspiration in medieval legends; specifically in the crafts, woodwork, pottery, masonry and tapestries of that era.
