Historical Context:
Jean-Claude Picot's work focuses mostly on panoramic views and close-ups of natural beauties of his homeland, of the French countryside near the Mediterranean. Inspired by the Fauvist masters, Picot works in a Post-Impressionist manner reducing flowers, trees, houses and figures to their essential forms. He works with many media types including oil, watercolor, acrylic, ceramic and etching.
