Born and raised in Ukraine in the midst of World War II, the tranquility of Igor Medvedev's works provoke a very different feeling from his tumultuous childhood. His art captures light to preserve ancient spirits in the painted landscapes he has become known for. He also focuses on structure, as can be seen in this work. His travels have added greatly to his style, taking him all across the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, painting everything from small fishing cities in Italy to small hilltop cities of Greece.
