Historical Context:
Before coming to the United States, Dan Mitra worked in Romania as a graphic designer for both motion pictures and the theater. He also practiced other various art forms including painting, sculpture and drawing. It was after coming to the United States that Mitra first began exploring the art of etching. His subject matter covers a wide range of topics, but each image demonstrates his distinct fine line, unflawed techniques and attention to detail and realism.
