Historical Context:
Ali Golkar was born in 1948 in Isfahan, Iran, later settling in the United States. His art is inspired by the mythology and mystery shrouding his ancient birth city, a region steeped in the cultures of both Europe and the Orient. In his work he attempts to portray love, beauty, music, and poetry with grace and a joy for life. His work also draws inspiration from Greek and Renaissance mythology, and 20th-century French humanist and expressionist art. On his work, he states: "My hands hold the brush and my heart blows life into it."
