The earliest type of weaving was probably band-weaving, where narrow bands were woven by just using fingers. This style of weaving stayed popular in nomadic cultures who could not construct looms to weave on. The first evidence of large looms comes around 6000 BC in places like Egypt, Iran and southeast Asia. There is also evidence of weaving in the Americas around the same time.
