After spending his childhood in north western Pennsylvania, Tom Rudd served a term for the U.S. Coast Guard. After this service he pursued a career in the grain business, simultaneously deciding to "follow his muse" and study art in 1970. From then on Rudd has been a strong contributor to the art world, not only by making art but by teaching it. Rudd's teaching, stays as visiting artist, and artist residencies took him through reform schools, prisons, and several colleges and universities across the U.S. He remains a working artist and shows art in museums, art centers, galleries and private collections throughout the world.
