Cracovia Minoris Poloniae Metropolis, 1617
Height: 12 in
Width: 21.5 in
Appears to be a landscape scene used as a map. Hill has city on it with buildings lettered; river has name on it; guide at lower left has list in Latin; two male figures stand at the lower right.
George Braun and Frans Hogenberg are known for the production of an atlas of cities entitled 'Civitates Orbis Terrarum'. One of the most important works in the history of both cartography and topography. The first volume was published in 1572 and the final volume in 1617. It was edited by Braun and largely engraved by Hogenberg.
