Historical Context:
Elaine Dalcher is a local Grand Rapids artist who has become known for her bold and colorful oil paintings. Her paintings often depict scenes found in and around her home and studio, whether that be a tree filled landscape from her backyard or a still life of flowers and fruit she created in her studio. Playing with color and realism, Dalcher’s paintings remain intimate and familiar. She is inspired by the physicality of oil paint, and the challenge of creating something that is inspiring for the viewer, but also encourages hope.
