Historical Context:
Don Kerr is an American painter that has served as a professor in Grand Valley State University's Art and Design Department. His work often reflects his frequent and vast travels, and his art can be seen both in the United States and around the world. He aims for his work to explore human perception and the significance of light, form and focus. He claims that art is essential to reawakening human awareness and the spurring of individual cultivation of the soul, a part of each of us that he feels is radically jeopardized by the way we live today.
