Historical Context:
Alejandro Pecorelli, was raised in Argentina, where his family's religious nature had a strong influence on his work. He works with mixed media, including ink, bronze leaf and wax seal. This piece is based on a liturgical shoe included in the Saint Demetrius' Liturgy. A spirit of mockery can be found within the image as the Lutherania's religion is described as the spirit of intolerance, and such a shoe was only worn by an authorized priest or philosopher of the City Council.
