Description:
An image of paintings of sailboats on shaped wooden canvases. The water is deep blue and behind the sailboats there are large green hills and a light blue sky with pink and purple wispy clouds.
Historical Context:
"A breeze off sand dune shoulders. The same gusts that carve dune from forest form too the shapes in surrounding sails. Deep and strong blues like where the river finds the Big Lake, and back to light and humming blues of sky again where we remember just how they both feel. So sails and loy forms recall perfect days on the water. A glance out at the distant blue gates of Lake Michigan sitting through the channel, seemingly, the first step into the rest of our world.
Muskegon holds many treasures, and in Windswept Muskegon, I wanted to showcase the real feeling of the wind, the true sculptor of our lakeside home. The boats, our vessels, purely earthen powered lead us where we like. Trim sails and set course but never let fade the feeling of our harbored home." - Jimmy Cobb
