"Abstraction and reality live on a spectrum between idea and place. Each stage elicits a different reaction. At the center of this spectrum is pure abstraction- devoid of any reality or sense of familiarity. Moving outwardly, the two concepts become intertwined. Recognizable objects such as; postage stamps, lottery tickets, pliers, and socks are suspended in abstract spaces. Familiar and foreign, this middle-ground of the spectrum is filled to the brim with tension and curiosity.
At the end of the spectrum, is pure reality. Objects are tangible to the viewer, allowing a moment of comfort and understanding. Playful color and desirable texture capture the viewer in a dream-like space; a rat's next of objects." - Abigail Spencer
