GVSU creative writing major Breann Barge founded the club “Untold Stories for People of Color” as a way for underrepresented students to feel comfortable on campus while doing something they enjoy. The club has given Barge a chance to learn how to facilitate meetings, practice writing, and improve listening skills. For other members of the club, it has also become a place to feel safe when exploring and nurturing ones writing. Reflecting on the purpose of the club Barge states, “every club member has a voice and a story and I think our club is the medium to help tell that story.”
