Historical Context:
The GVSU Making Waves Initiative creates collaboration and opportunities across campus among students, faculty, staff, and community. The initiative provides new opportunities to explore and investigate the many ways that water permeates our lives and the natural world around us. The GVSU campuses are connected to, and influenced by, the Grand River and Lake Michigan. The GVSU Making Waves initiative embraces and celebrates the water that sustains and surrounds us. Michigan's longest river, the Grand River, connects our two main campuses as well as the students, faculty, and nearby communities. We provide opportunities for students to see and experience water in all its beautiful forms.
