In nature, a fractal is a pattern that the laws of nature repeat at different scales. The term fractal was coined in 1975 by mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot in his work, "The Fractal Geometry of Nature." Fractal art is a form of algorithmic design created by calculating fractal objects and representing the calculated results as digital illustrations. Fractal art began in the 1980s as a genre of computer art used as the basis for a variety of digital art and animations. Keith Webber Jr. is an artist from Maine and is inspired by the nature of his home state when creating his artwork.
