Dyed cloth with red background. Diamond shape at the center in dark green, brown and white. Machine embroidery piece attached near the center of the cloth.
Historical Context:
To create stitch-dyed fabrics, the artists used a needle and raffia strings or cotton threads, some of which are still visible, to sew pleats of fabric together. They also employed use a technique in which pebbles are sewn into the fabric to create the vibrant chain-like effect.
