Historical Context:
Regarding his work, Chicago-based artist James Denoyer states, “’Spectrum’ is my newest body of abstract work that explores the intersections of woven paper. Each line is a story, both revealing and hiding information at the same time. All the work was made during the pandemic of 2020, so I look at them as literal “screenshots” of my psyche on a path to healing during this time. A representation of the fleeting moments, similar to when you get stuck changing channels, or when your reception would falter on an old television.“
