Historical Context:
Sun of the East ocean, rosy clouds of the Chicheng city, snow of the E-mei mountain, mists of the Wu gorge, moon of the Dongting lake, fog of the Pengli lake, rain of the Xiaoxiang river, peaks of the Wuyi mountain, waterfalls of Lushan mountain, synthesize all the extraordinary scenes and paint them on my walls. Poems of Tu Fu, paintings of Moji, articles in the Zuo Zhuan, History of Sima, Letter papers of Xuetao, calligraphy of Wang Xizhi, sutra of Nanghua (Zhaungzi), rhapsodies of Xiangru, verses of Quyuan, collect all the best arts, ancient or modern, and place them in front of my window.
